Snow & Fur

On the way home from Illinois, Justin and I got stuck in a white out blizzard. I thought it would be a good idea to go to the Miller Aquatorium and take photos for the 2008 GWB Calendar. It turned out not to be such a great idea, because we almost died. The Aquatorium sits right on Miller Beach... which is of course a beach to Lake Michigan. The closer we got to the lake, the worse the blizzard got. The Aquatorium is made of some kind of stone or cement and once you go up the stairs it has a hallway with openings to the outside. Because we were so close to the lake, the aquatium turned into a crazy wind tunnel. Being inside there was the craziest feeling I've ever had. I felt like it was the end of the world and only Justin and I were left. Lake Michigan looked like the ocean during a hurricane. I was so into taking pictures that I didn't even realize how cold I had gotten. I was wearing mocassins and I forgot to put on my gloves. Here are a couple photos, I haven't edited them all but I will post them once I do.

These next ones are photos I shot this weekend of Phil and Erin's cats, Melvin and Zelda. I really love photographing cats and I always will, even if Columbia says I can't. Enjoy!

Artisan Baker

Today I baked bread for the first time in my life. I used the Bread Bible that I got from Phil & Erin for Christmas and I thought it turned out pretty delicious.

This week I also baked Banana Orange Muffins. The clean up sucked, but it made for a good photo.

I also got to use my new silpat for the first time and I played around with Justin's food processor. I made two salad dressings and potato pancakes.
